Stepping through the doors of Sketch it took me a long time to take in the fact of where I was and how beautiful it was. I have never felt as glamourous as when I was walking through the decadent rooms to the beautiful open pink restaurant. The décor of the room reminded me of an old fashion French restaurant, with low lamps that created a romantic glow and the interesting art work on the walls.

Sketches line the walls and a few of them were very unusual and gave us a laugh I have to admit, even though they are supposedly worth millions. The area we were sat in is known as the pink room because of the lovely powder pink upholstery - my boyfriend was sat in a round seat that looked like a little pink clam (sort of wishing that they wouldn’t look completely out of place in my living room.)

The next adventure was going to the toilet as they bright white pods that sit on a bright podium with a sweeping staircase leading up to them. Amazing music was playing from the dance room downstairs and there was a beautiful smell of flowers in the air as a perfume is spritzed into the room.

It was a very surreal experience with a man and woman dressed up in old fashioned maid’s outfits keeping them clean – but honestly I’d wished we’d spent more time in the amazing area. My mum told me once that as a child I’d love just going to restaurants and exploring the toilet (strange) but I literally would have had a field day in that one.

Our own personal sommelier was in charge of our wine and kept us topped up throughout the meal – they must have known I wasn’t a regular to this classy establishment when I asked him if he wanted to just leave the bottle with us. (Also when I swilled the wine round in the glass to taste it in the most amateur way.)

Next was deciding what to eat from the beautiful and slightly eclectic menu, which forks popped out of when you opened them – like nothing I’ve ever seen before! I chose for my starter a Thai salad, which was essentially baby gem leaves, but it was far from boring. They had sprinkled it with sesame oil to give it this beautiful taste and adorned it with grapefruit which had a crunchy tang. For my main I had udon noodles which I’m still salivating at the mouth thinking about now.

My boyfriend had steamed langoustines and cod which I couldn’t try, but which got demolished, so it must have been to die for! The little touch of the writing ‘an empty plate’ on the base of each dish was certainly showing on our table after each course.

My favourite room of the whole place was the garden room which had beautiful greenery lining the walls and low lighting that created a magical feeling in the air. It felt like stepping into a secret fairy garden. Sketch really is such an amazing place, I would recommend any one go to celebrate a special occasion there, as every little touch really makes it feel special. I will be going again for definite once I’ve saved up my pennies. I’m so lucky that this lovely boy treated me to an evening there.

The pictures below are from Friday when a group of my friends and I went to Pizza Buzz near Old Street Station, who served up the most amazing pizza and unlimited (yes unlimited) prosecco, wine or beer for two hours. So as you can imagine we took full advantage of this. I can really recommend this place to anyone as for £25 you get a good deal for your money (our drunken selves when we left the place were testimony to that.)

We then wobbled down the road to Book Club to dance to all the old classics (Nelly’s ‘Ignition’ was definitely one of the highlights.) I did all this wearing a £15 beautiful jumpsuit from Topshop that I got in the sale and my Primark (shush) knee high boots – all black everything.

I have been experiencing a major case of birthday blues the last couple of days as I was treated to the best birthday weekend from all the loved ones in my life. I am such a lucky girl (/24 year old woman eek.)
