It's hard to think about the winter months again when we are just entering spring, but fashion waits for no one and the trends for the next season were displayed at Fashion Weeks across the globe recently.This winter is going to be filled with beautiful knits, oversized shapes, patent fabrics, contrasting layers, Victorian inspired shapes and intricate details. It will look stylish and keep you warm at the same time. The collections for this season of designers such as Versace, Alexander McQueen, Valentino and Balenciaga are filled with pieces that epitomise the top trends, forever garments that you can cherish and wear for a lifetime. The forecast for winter is looking to be a fashionable one; here are the top trends to follow during the upcoming season. Pringle of Scotland | Versace | Sacai

It's all about stylish layers with this trend which pays homage to what you wear off the slopes. Designers have paired alpine knits with leather for a stylish look for a powerful woman. Sacai isn't shy with prints, and pairs chunky twin sets made from different fabrics. You can't be afraid of patterns when following this trend.

Max Mara | Valentino | Creatures of the Wind

Add a shine to your outfit this season as it's all about the patent look. Max Mara show us elegant, shiny matching twin sets, while Valentino and Creatures of the Wind go for the all over shine with long coats and cute dresses. It's elegant and sexy; you can't be shy with this trend - you want your high shine to stand out.

The eye is on the finer details with this trend, as it pays homage to intricate machine work and artwork woven into a garment. More is definitley better, so make sure you're covered with sequins, gems and beautiful patterns. Designers are celebrating femininty in their collections for the season with maxi dresses decorated with sparkly florals.

Designers such as Sophie Theallet and Veronique Branquinho have been inspired by the Victorians and have created collections filled with beautiful, lace edged and velvet pieces that move with the body. Don't forget that necklines need to be high and preferably frilled. This trend is all about the show stoppers.

Versace | Balenciaga | Rag & Bone

Sporty spice is the one to be this season, with pieces that are just too stylish to work out in. There will be Adidas-esque stripes, oversized shapes, skin-tight fabrics, all mixed with sexy femininity. There are skirts mixed with sport jackets at Rag & Bone and high waisted skinny trousers paired with cropped leather at Versace.
